Every year, to mark International Women’s Day, I create a playlist of composers I love. These are geniuses I am constantly inspired by.
My 2025 playlist is titled Now Is Our Time - IWD 2025, the title of Noa Fort’s homonymous song. This year I choose to bring to your attention the work of the 12 composers that make up cohort 7 of Mutual Mentorship For Musicians (of which I am part) and the two cofounders: Jen Shyu and Sara Serpa. I decided it was time to move away from Spotify because its policies damage musicians, their livelihood, our planet and I can’t in good conscience send you all there. I bought all this wonderful music and created a Bandcamp playlist but, guess what?! Bandcamp playlists cannot be shared. Please consider buying these amazing musicians music. My 2024 playlist is titled Weave A Matriarchal Dome, a phrase from Björk’s song Future Forever. To me weaving a matriarchal dome means changing the perspective and creating a society that values the empowerment of all and builds future scenarios in balance with nature.
